This position offers broad exposure to book and Web publishing and is an opportunity to acquire hands-on editorial production experience through administrative and editorial duties. Major responsibilities include converting author-submitted disks to ready-to-copyedit files, mail-merge operations through use of a database, assisting with preparation of meeting workbooks,
proofreading, transferring author corrections, assisting with meeting logistics and routine administrative tasks, and maintaining congenial and efficient communications with eminent scientific Editors and Authors. Traveling outside the Bay Area 2-3 week ends annually may be required.
Copyediting/proofreading under veteran supervision and acquiring other production/editorial skills readies the PE Assistant for promotion to a series of increasingly responsible jobs in the Production Department.
